LOTTO SUPER 7 is played throughout Canada. For $2, players get three sets of seven numbers. In Ontario and Western Canada, players can select only one set of the numbers with the other two automatically generated by the computer, or all three sets of numbers can be automatically generated. In Atlantic Canada, British Columbia and Quebec, you can select all 3 sets yourself, or have the computer choose 1 or more for you. In Ontario, you can play it with Encore for an additional $1.

Players who match all seven regular drawn numbers (1 - 47) win the jackpot - guaranteed at a minimum $2.5 million. Each time the jackpot is not won, it grows by at least $2.5 million. The winning numbers are usually posted in LotteryBuddy.com right after the draw, i.e., 10:05-10:45 PM. Read about the draw procedure.

It has been in existence since June 10, 1994. The largest jackpot ever offered on a Canadian lottery is $37,841,970.40 for the Lotto Super 7 draw on May 17, 2002. Four winning tickets shared the jackpot prize. The largest Canadian jackpot won by a single ticket is $30 million for the Lotto Super 7 draw on April 11, 2003. The winning ticket was sold in Brantford, but that prize has not been claimed and will expire worthless in April 2004. The largest unclaimed jackpot in Canada as of 2003 was a 1989 Lotto 6/49 ticket worth $4.6 million.

Prizes

45% of LOTTO SUPER 7 draw sales are dedicated to the Prize Fund. The total amount of $10 prizes is deducted from the Prize Fund along with Free Play prizes (valued at $0.90 each). The remainder - the Pool's Fund - is then allocated between the 5/7 (25%), 6/7 (7%), 6/7+Bonus (8%) and 7/7 (60%) prize categories as indicated in the table below. Any amount not won in the 7/7 or 6/7+Bonus prize categories is added to the 7/7 jackpot prize for the next draw.

A winning set of numbers entitles a winner to a prize in only one of the above prize categories.
The prize payout is 45%. Out of the 62,891,499 possible ticket combinations, 3,561,111 would win a prize, or 5.7%. The amounts for the first to fourth prizes are variable.

Less than 14% of sales on average is allocated to the jackpot, while 16% is allocated to the $10 prizes. The average jackpot won is $5,771,935.90. Less than 2% of sales is allocated to the second or third prize pools.
